Action: Take Our Green Jobs Survey
If you’re employed in the clean-tech industry, or you’re pursuing a clean-tech job, will you consider taking no more than 10 minutes to complete this survey to help us?
This is the first comprehensive global clean-tech salary survey, produced in partnership with our allies at Clean Edge. The results will be published in the Clean Tech Job Trends 2009 report, which we expect to become the leading source for clean-tech jobs trends, data, and insights. Also, once the survey is completed, you will automatically see a salary comparison report for your current or targeted position, and in October you’ll have the opportunity to download the report from Green America’s Web site.
(PLEASE NOTE: All survey results will be published anonymously so there is no risk of personal information being disclosed.)
News: Tell Congress to Fund Walkable/Bikeable Communities
The opportunity to re-authorize the Transportation Bill only comes around every six years in Congress. This fall, when Congress convenes to pass the 2009 Transportation Bill, we’re calling for Green Americans to step forward and demand greater funding for walkable and bikeable communities.
Our allies at Transportation for America are calling on our leaders to “support the creation of a world-leading, sustainable transportation system that eases our addiction to oil, fixes bottlenecks in our freight corridors, and invests in high-speed trains and public transportation, which can help create jobs now and build for the future.”
To learn more about walkable and bikeable communities, stay tuned. We’re wrapping upthe Fall issue of our Green American magazine, “Reclaiming the Streets.” Your donation today helps support our magazine research and the work of our Climate Action program. Thank you for your support.

Resources: Once You Shrink Your Impact, Here’s How to Offset the Rest
Since Green America’s first carbon offset article, in 2007, the carbon offset market has grown rapidly, directing $705 million in 2008 to carbon-reducing projects worldwide. As the market has expanded, it has also matured – and finding a trustworthy offset provider is easier than ever.
Before you turn to offsets, it’s important to reduce your climate impact first. A good mantra for reducing your carbon footprint is: reduce what you can, offset the rest, and then repeat. Our Green American magazine, “Efficiency First,” can give you steps for literally reducing your emissions by half.
For the rest, check out our article to find out the difference between “offsets” and “renewable energy credits,” how some offset programs calculate airline emissions differently, what kinds of projects you can support with your offset, and more.
